Sunday Funday (for the Holidays)
I recently had the opportunity to work on two TV shows, both of which air this coming Sunday, December 6th: NBC's "LXTV" and ABC's "Holiday of Stars."
LXTV is broadcast in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Tune in this Sunday (10:30am for Chicago - check local listings) to see a restyling of a house I did with DTS Staging. Included are great tips for staging a home from Bethany Souza, Real Estate expert from "Designed to Sell."
At 4pm central time, tune into ABC for "Holiday of Stars." I was fortunate enough to work with my friend Kelly Edwards on this segment featuring a holiday makeover for Jesse Palmer (The Bachelor, ESPN). Watch as we transform a space from the winter blah's to a classic and festive Bachelor pad.

A colorful re-purpose
I have loved to repurpose and recreate objects for as long as I can remember. One of my favorite projects to date is this funky old brass chandelier that I gave a colorful facelift using ribbon and paint.

This particular piece was installed in an office in an Andersonville condo. Given everyone fixture is different and custom to your color scheme, what a great way to add a little drama to your space!

the snoopster has arrived!
There's a new design-related blog site in Chicago called the snoopster. Started by my friend, Elaine Matsushita, this blogsite goes inside those "I wonder what those houses look on the inside" homes. Being the former editor of the Chicago Tribune's House and Homes section, Elaine also brings a wealth of knowledge and resources to her blogsite. One of my other favorite sections is the snooping with the stars section, where Elaine asks celebrities questions about their interiors (with some random unexpected answers.)
We're helping plan the official launch party for September 11th from 7-9pm at various locations throughout Andersonville. Mark your calendars now and stay tuned for more details!

Design Road Trip - Farnsworth House
With so many historical homes in Illinois and Wisconsin, what a better way to spend a perfect summer day than hopping in the car and taking a road trip. The first house featured in this series is the Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe, located in Plano, Ill. Completed in 1951, the Farnsworth House is truly a masterpiece. The minimalist expression combined with Mies' attention to detail create a seamless environment between architecture and nature. Pictures are not allowed inside the home, so on the next sunny 80 degree day you must go experience this for yourself! By the way, the tree pictured here is 175 years old...Crazy!
